How To Choose MCSA Training Described

By Jason Kendall

For those hoping to start an MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) training course, pay attention to the fact that training varies from company to company; some are easier than others. You'll discover a number of options, whether you're a beginner, or an experienced technician about to gain accredited qualifications.

For a newcomer to the IT industry, it could be appropriate to learn a few things before getting into the first of the four MCP's (Microsoft Certified Professional exams) needed to become qualified at the MCSA level. Search for an organisation that will design a course to help you - with a team of advisors who will assist to make certain that you've selected your options carefully.

If you're considering a certification company that still utilises workshops as a feature of their programme, then listen to these difficulties experienced by many students:

* A lot of visits to the workshops - often quite a distance away.

* Monday to Friday availability with workshops is usual, and trying to take several days leave in a single chunk is usually problematic for many working people.

* Lost annual leave - a lot of workers only get 4 weeks annual leave. If over half of it is swallowed up by educational days, that doesn't leave much holiday time left for most student's families.

* Workshop days can get overly large as well.

* Some attendees want to progress quickly, while others are looking to take a more 'steady' pace and be allowed to set their own speed. This breeds tension and bad atmosphere in most cases.

* Let's not overlook the added cost of travelling and several days accommodation either. Don't be surprised to find this become a lot of money - from hundreds to thousands. Do the maths yourself - you may be surprised.

* Do you really want even a small chance of letting yourself be side-stepped for advancement or income boosts just because you're retraining.

* How many of us have avoided asking a question, because we wanted to maintain the illusion that we did, in fact, understand?

* Living away for part of your working week - a fair few trainees need to live or work somewhere else for certain parts of their study. Events become impossible at that point, unfortunately the money has already changed hands in your initial payment.

An altogether more elegant solution is based on viewing a pre-filmed class - enabling you to learn any time of the day that suits.

Consider... Utilising a laptop then you could work in the garden, a park, or just outside. And 24x7 support is an online click away if you hit challenges.

Just repeat the learning modules whenever you want to. There's also no need to scribble any notes because the class is available whenever you want it.

Put simply: You save time, hassle, money and avoid polluting our environment.

Ensure all your accreditations are commercially valid and current - don't bother with programs that only give in-house certificates.

From an employer's viewpoint, only the top companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe or CompTIA (as an example) really carry any commercial clout. Nothing else hits the mark. - 30202
