Number One with a Bullet - Carradine and Williams do well in this fairly average action movie where we have hostile investigators out to oust a drug kingpin. Cast includes Robert Carradine, Billy Dee Williams, Valerie Bertinelli, Peter Graves, Doris Roberts, and Bobby DiCicco. (101 minutes, 1987)

Sugar Town - Amusing mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives merge - a musician hopeful who'll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the unsuitable men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock megastars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although clever and well recognized; superb cast contains a number of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes, 1999)

High Crimes - Lawyer Claire Kubik has just been told that her spouse is not who she thinks he is. Tom Kubik is in fact Ron Chapman, and he is on trial in the military justice system for the slaying of villagers in Latin America. Claire takes on the case but just what will she discover, as the facts are unraveled?

The Hex - Performer Keith steps behind the camera to direct this down-home terror film. A fatal meteorite lands on a Tennessee farm, actually driving the people insane after contaminating their food. Cast includes Will Wheaton, Claude Akins, Cooper Huckabee, John Schneider, and Amy Wheaton. (90 minutes, 1987)

Dracula's Daughter - Continuation to the Lugosi classic portrays vampire exercises of Holden. Pichel adds implementing aid as her malevolent manservant. Hillyer, usually a B-Western director, manages to imbue this chiller with a moody, subtly sensual quality. Cast includes Cast includes Gloria Holden, Otto Kruger, Marguerite Churchill, Irving Pichel, Edward Van Sloan, Nan Grey, and Hedda Basket. (70 minutes, 1936)

Hanky Panky - Blameless designer Wilder is chased by snoops, cops, etc. Expected, hardly ridiculous comedy-thriller, with Radner miscast as the love interest. The motion picture was meant to be a follow-up to Stir Crazy, although Richard Pryor's part was changed for Gilda. You've watched it all before, and better. Cast includes Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark, Robert Prosky, Josef Sommer, and Johnny Sekka. (88 minutes, 1982)

Alfie - Well redone interpretation of Bill Naughton play he additionally wrote. Caine is remarkable as philandering Cockney playboy who is put in a very tough situation.
